Beginner Driving Lessons
For learners starting from scratch or with very little time behind the wheel. One-on-one lessons in an automatic dual-control car, at your pace, with free pickup and drop-off.
These lessons are for people at the very start — you might have just passed your Driver Knowledge Test, or you may have sat in the driver's seat once or twice and found it more than you expected. Either is fine. We begin wherever you actually are, not where a lesson plan says you should be.
The first lesson usually starts somewhere quiet. You learn the controls, get the car moving, and stop. From there we build up: steering, braking, gear selection, lane position, then turns, intersections and roundabouts as you're ready for them. Nothing gets rushed to fit a schedule.
What we cover
Vehicle controls, mirrors and seating position
Steering, braking and smooth acceleration
Lane positioning and road awareness
Turns, intersections and roundabouts
NSW road rules, signs and speed zones
Parking and reversing
Moving from quiet streets into real traffic
Choosing a lesson length
Duration | Best for |
|---|---|
60 minutes | Your first few lessons, or fitting a lesson around school or work |
90 minutes | Most learners once the basics are there — enough time to cover ground and repeat it |
120 minutes | Working on longer routes, motorway driving, or building hours quickly |
Logbook hours
Every lesson is signed off in your logbook at the end. If you're under 25, Transport for NSW lets you record three hours for every one hour of structured lesson with a licensed instructor, up to a maximum of 10 lessons — so 30 recorded hours in total. The bonus applies to daytime lessons only; a lesson after sunset is recorded as actual time and counts towards your 20 night hours.
Under 25, you need 120 logbook hours including 20 at night, and you must hold your learner licence for 12 months. If you're 25 or over, the logbook requirement doesn't apply to you — but the driving test is the same test.
Who's teaching you
Vijay has been instructing since 2012 and is licensed by Transport for NSW. Lessons can be run in English, Hindi or Gujarati. Every lesson is one-on-one — you are not sharing the car with another student.
The goal is not just clearing the test. The goal is to drive around safely.
Before you book
You'll need your NSW learner licence with you for every lesson. Lessons are in an automatic car only. You can book up to 30 days ahead and up to 12 hours before a start time, and cancel free of charge up to 24 hours beforehand.
